If you are even remotely familiar with ethics, it will be very hard to read this book cover to cover (you really need to be able to retain a ton of material). I therefore recommend that you use the 'Teach Your Tutor' function on the book's website and then read the parts of the book that are particularly useful to you. You can also contact your tutor to get an additional strategy that will help you with the ethics material.
The heterozygous hTERT T116A polymorphism in Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer's disease is a common neurodegenerative disorder that is the leading cause of dementia in the elderly. Age is the major risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein enzyme that synthesizes telomere repeats at the end of chromosomes. Recent research showed that telomerase is critical for the cellular repopulation and genomic stability. In this study, we investigated the association of the heterozygous telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) T116A (rs2735383) polymorphism with the risk of Alzheimer's disease in two independent populations from Greece (195 patients and 106 controls) and Germany (181 patients and 150 controls). We found no statistically significant differences in the frequency of the hTERT T116A genotypes or alleles between cases and controls in either population. Moreover, we did not find an association between the T116A polymorphism and the disease subtypes. Our results suggest that the hTERT T116A polymorphism is not associated with Alzheimer's disease.Last updated on.From the section Football
