A drama about Jan Vu, a small-time crook in Bangkok, who steals a bag containing diamonds from one of the city's most notorious gangsters. When the crooks are unable to cut and sell the gems, they turn to Madame Vo for help. Actresses Chungking Express' Faye Wong with Joey Wang for this film. Jan Vo is also contacted by an old friend in jail who wants to go straight but needs cash. The obvious solution is robbery but when Jan Vo takes on this job he finds it more difficult than expected due to the tight security in the building where his target resides. To make matters worse, Jan Vo becomes infatuated with his target's girlfriend. The result is a thriller that blends the traditional Thai way of movie making with a Hollywood sensibility. Jan Vu is a really good hero, he has a sense of justice and duty to his people. He not only wants to escape from jail but also from the underworld he has been in for so many years. Madame Vo is a typical cult leader who thinks she's got everything under control. She thinks she knows what her followers want and do not want but in the end, it turned out that it was just a facade to cover up her own imperfection. This film is a lot more on the thriller side than the spy film. It shows how a typical Thai person would live and deal with crime. The scriptwriting is done in a way that makes the audience feel as though they're watching a Thai movie from start to finish.
